Daily Announcements
February 25, 2020

As a way to celebrate and encourage students who do the right thing, I am starting “Caught In the Act.”  Each month I will ask staff members to send me the names of students they have observed doing good deeds.  These good deeds can range from lending a helping hand, to picking up trash on the floor, to standing up for what is right.  Our Core Value of Building Respect is built upon the premise of creating a safe, positive, and welcoming environment. We all play a part in the culture of our school and students who support this culture should be recognized and appreciated!  At the end of each month, each student nominated will receive a coupon to our DECA store for a free drink or snack. All names will be placed in a raffle and 5-8 students will be selected to have lunch with the Principal (at my expense). Again, we are looking for ways to celebrate the GOOD and show students that getting “Caught in the Act” is a positive thing!

There will be a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25,  for anyone interested in playing football next fall.  The meeting will be at 2:10 in the lecture hall.

DECA is hosting a March Madness 3 on 3 basketball tournament on Thursday March12th in the BR gym. This event is open to all students and staff and costs $10 per person or $30 per team. Only 32 teams will be allowed to participate. The winning team will receive $150 in Barrett's gift cards and their name on a trophy! Money is due at the time you sign up your team. Please see Mr. Ferreira in the DECA store or B120 to sign up. 32 teams will compete only 1 will take the money, trophy, and bragging rights, will it be yours?

The Athletic Trainer will be conducting Baseline testing for any athlete in need of testing on March 9th through March 13th, after school in Room E218 (second floor Computer Lab), at EITHER 2:30pm OR 3:15pm.  Anyone planning on trying out for a Spring 2020 Season Sport should consult one of the lists posted either in the Main Office, or outside of the Athletic Trainer's or Athletic Director's Office.  If your name is on the list, your test is CURRENT and you do NOT need to be tested prior to tryouts.  If your name is NOT on the list, you will need to attend one of the testing day/sessions.

February is RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS MONTH. The B-R School Climate group is hosting a Random Acts of Kindness Challenge. Pick up a calendar of suggested kind acts and be entered into a prize drawing. Five winners (one per grade and one staff member) will each receive a $20 gift certificate to the DECA store. Calendars are FREE but you must return your calendar to Mrs. Murdoch (G210) or Mrs. White (G203) by Monday, March 2nd to be placed into the drawing. Get your calendar from Mrs. Murdoch, Mrs. White, any club member or in the main office.

To All Spring Athletes: mandatory online-signups for a high school Spring sports are open and will CLOSE at Midnight on Monday March 9th.  Registration closes before tryouts start.  Per the Student Handbook:  “Once the deadline is reached, Family-ID will be closed for the season.  Students will not be permitted to participate for that season if they fail to sign up during the registration window.”  You can find all info on the high school’s website under the “ATHLETICS” section.  Please click the athletics’ menu titled “High School Sports Registration”.  Spring sports are: baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis, and track & field.
