 2019 Local Scholarship Offerings

Please go through the packet and see which scholarships pertain to you.  Note the due date and where to hand them in.  The majority will go to F305 by 3/22/19.

HELPFUL HINTS

  • You can hand these in earlier than the due date!
  • Do NOT drop any applications in guidance, there is no tracking on them if you leave them there.  F305 or mailed to the donor only. 
  • Check the Google Classroom (P6YPFZ) for updates as some scholarship applications will not be available until February 1!
  • You only need to fill out the generic application one time.  Fill it out and make copies then add the scholarship name at the top as needed J

BRENDAN MAHONEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  Award 2 @ $1,500.00.  Eligibility: BR High Senior who has participated in hockey.  Must be going to 2-4 year accredited school/program in the fall.  Student must attend BRRHS to apply.

THE GEORGE AND EMELINE MACDONALD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Award: 1@ $500.00 Eligibility: A member of the senior class Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School , who resides in Raynham and plans on continuing his or her education at a two or four year college.  The applicant must demonstrate academic achievement during his/her high school career and be an active participant as a volunteer in community service.  There must be a financial need, however, this is not the only consideration.

Must include the following:  Official Transcript, College Acceptance Letters, and a statement of expenses from the college they plan to attend.

PROPHETT-CHAPMAN, COLE & GLEASON FUNERAL HOME COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP: Award: 1 @ $1000. Eligibility: Graduating senior from BR, accepted to accredited program. Student must write a short story (2,500-5,000 words) regarding the granite seal at the corner of 98 Bedford Street and Maple Ave. in Bridgewater.  It must be named and you may write a children’s story.  Fun and uplifting entries only.  See rules with Mrs. Thibodeau in F305. Payment is made after semester one is completed and student provides proof of enrollment of semester two.  This scholarship is only for students of Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.

LAURA E. ROBINSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Award: 2 @ $1,000.00 Eligibility: The applicant must be a resident of the Town of Raynham and be enrolled at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.  The applicant must be furthering his or her education after high school at a college or junior college.  The applicant must demonstrate a financial need for the scholarship; however financial need should not be the sole determination in the awarding of the scholarship.  Applications must include 1.) an official transcript, 2.) copies of student’s college acceptance letter(s), 3.) copies of college expenses (including but not limited to tuition, room and board, etc.) The Committee reserves the right to request additional information from the applicant.

AUBURNVILLE SCHOLARSHIP Award: 1 @ $200.00 Eligibility: Bridgewater resident of Auburnville: Auburn St. from Summer St. as far as and including #598, Windmere St., Sherwood Ln., Sharon Ct., Curve St., Glenwood Dr., Old Farm Rd., Beaver Dam Rd., Summer St. from the railroad bridge to and including #1359, Charles St., Harland Ln., Summerdale Farms Way, Flagg St. to railroad tracks, Eagle Trace, Laurel St., Laurel Drive, Kathleen Rd., Walter St. to Skeetermill Pond, Palmieri Cir., Virginia Dr. Dew Drop Lane; and deserving student.  This scholarship is only for students of Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.

JOHN & IRENE NOONAN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION TRUST SCHOLARSHIP Award: 1 at $1000.00 Eligibility: A resident of Bridgewater; graduating senior; accepted into a four-year institution of higher education; demonstrates interest in the areas of political science, law, or history.  This scholarship is only for students of Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.

Include: Please include the following with your application: A 500 word essay or less (typed and double-spaced) on “What is happening in your world, and why?” (Your world meaning your own life not world affairs.)

Parent/Guardian must be a member of the Bridgewater-Raynham Education Association (Teacher or Educational Assistant). Applications must be filled out COMPLETELY to qualify. (Coexists with the Plymouth County Scholarship)

CLOUTIER/LAFRANCE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Award: 1 @ $1,000 Eligibility: Write a brief essay about someone in your life who inspired your decision to attend college.  Include a copy of one of your college letters of recommendation.  Recipient will be asked to meet with the donor of the scholarship at which time the check will be presented. All applicants should attend Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.

BRIDGEWATER BUSINESS ASSOCIATION, INC.: Award: 4 @ $500.00 (renewable once after first full year) Eligibility: The BBA scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business.  Recipient must attend Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.  Must provide a 150-200 word essay (typed, double spaced) addressing how promoting the general welfare of the business community benefits the entire community served by our members.  Also include one of your college letters of recommendation.

FRIENDS OF BR SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP:  Award: 2 @ 250.00.  Eligibility:  Bridgewater or Raynham Student who has received special education services in district at some point in their schooling.  Must include a 500 word or less essay on, How having a disability has helped shape you as a person and how receiving special education services has helped you in school.  Applicants must attend Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.

KAREN DRISCOLL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Award: 4 @ $1000 (2 male, 2 female).  Eligibility: Senior graduating from Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School continuing his/her education at a two-year or four-year college.  Scholarship will recognize students who have been affected by cancer (personally or within their family).  Due 4/1/19 to F305 or directly to donor on the application.

CREATIVE WORLD CHILDREN’S LEARNING CENTER SCHOLARSHIP:  Award: 1 @ $500.00 Eligibility: Student should be planning on pursuing a career in teaching or a related field and be of good academic standing.  This scholarship is only available to students of Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.

Must provide an essay about the importance of early childhood education and how you can make a difference in the field.

RAVE SCHOLARSHIP: Award: 3 @ $500.00.  Eligibility:  Raynham resident with service to the community.  Scholarship applicants must be applying and attending a one-, two-, three- or four- year accredited college or post graduate program.

A&A METRO TRANSPORTATION SCHOLARSHIP: Award: 1 @ $500 Eligibility: Applicant must be pursuing a four year degree preferable in business, recreation, or education.  The candidate should have in school involvement as well as outside volunteer experience that enhance the growth and development of others. All applicants should attend Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School. 

Please write an essay that addresses the following: Learning begins in the classroom but does not end there. What lessons have you utilized in a life experience? How will these lessons support you in your college experience?

Award: 2 scholarships @ $500 each.  1 baseball/1 softball.  Eligibility:  Must be a graduating Raynham resident who played baseball or softball as a member of RYBSA for 4 yrs.  Applicant must be enrolled in a 2-4 yr. undergraduate degree program at an institution of higher learning.

LEHTOLA MEMORIAL COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD Award: 1 at $500.00 Eligibility: Bridgewater Senior active in community service, demonstrates character, has a good scholastic standing, and plans to attend college. Please state amount and quality of community service. Recipient will be notified of meeting to attend to meet members of Rotary club.  This scholarship is paid out upon receipt of paid first semester invoice from college or university.  Recipient must attend Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School.
